Operations Supervisor
Excellent direct hire opening for an Operations Supervisor in Southern Louisiana. Must have 3-5 years prior supervisor experience in a heavy manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include serving as a front-line production supervisor within a heavy manufacturing operation. You will have to lead and direct crews, monitor performance, and resolve operational problems. This position requires willingness and ability to work rotating shifts in a fast-paced environment. The Supervisor is responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day allocation of resources (equipment, people, materials and systems) in order to efficiently, safely and cost effectively achieve performance targets as agreed upon with Senior Management. Local candidates preferred.
Major Responsibilities:
-Perform all supervisory functions including hiring, firing, training, conducting meetings, completing records,evaluating/disciplining employee performance, evaluating staffing requirements.
-Ensure that production levels are achieved, services, and housekeeping standards are maintained and improved where required.
-The ability to review and measure daily productivity and increase efficiency.
-Coach, mentor and develop team members to meet current and future business requirements.
-Ensure the development and implementation of action plans to address root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
-Facilitate seamless handoffs and communicate key information to peers, team members and Management.
-Understand internal and external regulations, procedures & policies and apply them fairly and consistently.
-Manage relationships with customers and suppliers, colleagues and support services to ensure achievement of targets.
-A strong commitment to workplace safety and a working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Three to five years of experience in a supervisor capacity for a large production operation
(reclamation, distribution, or materials handling operations).
Must be highly motivated and a proven and effective leader.
Ability to effectively supervise a large work force of 150 employees.
Understanding of processes & mechanics of line equipment.
Background with preventative maintenance systems in a production environment.
Must have basic maintenance knowledge in areas such as heavy equipment movers, front-end loaders, crane and fork lifters.
Strong oral and written communication skills along with excellent follow up capabilities.
Must be comfortable working in a team oriented environment and be able to handle many responsibilities.
Excellent problem solving ability.
Bilingual in Spanish helpful.
Bachelor Degree desired, but not required. Ability to motivate, lead, and meet production goals is critical.
