Job Description PPI Director As a division PPI Process Manager, this position is responsible for developing the tools and methods required to make PPI a way of life within Scientific Instruments division.  The person in this job will assist division management and the Corporate Operational Excellence (OE) council in conducting training on PPI methodology and tools to advance a continuous improvement culture within the division.  As part of the PPI methodology this position will be responsible for providing guidance and proliferating Lean concepts, leading key projects and assisting as necessary in the integration process brought about by any acquisitions the division may make.  Additional responsibilities include aggressively working to make PPI self-sustaining; providing leadership for business unit PPI Process Managers to coordinate and lead a division- wide coordinated program; and serving as a conduit for best practice sharing.  Finally, this person will serve as an extension of the corporate PPI organization and will work closely with the company’s Global Director PPI to support and work company wide initiatives as necessary.  The position involves significant travel and may be based at any Thermo location.We require a college degree in business or a technical field and extensive knowledge of quality theory and continuous improvement methodologies and tools, as well as strong experience in Lean MFG / Lean Business Practices with a proven track record that delivers results.  A minimum of five years managerial and / or technical leadership role in a quality or engineering position is essential, along with accomplished written and oral communication skill.  The person in this position must have interpersonal, time management, decision-making and conflict management skills and be comfortable working as a team member, conversing at all levels within the organization.
