PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Lapp Insulators LLC, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-voltage ceramic insulators seeks an experienced Production Supervisor for a project assignment (estimated duration of 3 months to 1 year).  Lapp’s LeRoy, New York facility is located in Western New York, within 30 minutes of most Rochester suburbs.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Direct total operations in the assigned department(s) to meet planned schedules cost-effectively.

Keep scrap and machine downtime at the lowest level possible.  Operate within the departmental

budget and foster relationships between employees and management.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Drive flow of production through the departments to meet production schedules timely and at a minimum cost.

2. Maintain the highest standard of quality.

3. Work closely with Production Control to complete orders and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

4. Provide shop floor leadership. Training, maintaining employee records and disciplinary actions when required.

5. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls using Lean Manufacturing concepts and processes.

6. Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the departments.

7. Drive departmental safety initiatives. Meet goals by conducting monthly employee safety meeting, audits and reviewing of company safety rules and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

1. Five to eight years in production leadership, preferably in a union environment.

2. Working understanding of operations and equipment as it relates to immediate area and company-wide.

3. Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

 

OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

 

1. Demonstrated leadership qualities; positive communication skills.

2. PC literate (Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel)

3. Maintenance of ISO procedures/standards.
