Planning Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Summary:  This position is responsible for planning, tracking and reporting on all Purchasing division activities related to new model development.  Specific events that are tracked and reported on include:

· The release of required drawings from the Product Development department and the receipt of those drawings into the Purchasing department

· Release of Requests for Quotations (RFQ) by the Buyers

· Buyer analysis of the suppliers’ quotation and timely supplier selection

· Concurrent Engineering (CE) meeting progress

· Buyer’s issuance of Award Notifications to selected suppliers

· Tooling Purchase Order release

· ASQE issuance of PPAP requirements

· Supplier tooling completion and first part delivery

· The loading of supplier part ordering information into the YMMC computer systems

· Pilot part delivery

· Production readiness of the supply base

· New model Cost Development

 

Additional responsibilities include:Maintaining up-to-date information on tool construction lead-times and new part development lead-times, and communicating that information throughout the YMMC organization. Collecting Buyer information on Engineering Changes, and representing the Purchasing department in Production Control led Engineering Change meetings.Contributing to the development and maintenance of various computer systems utilized by the Purchasing department including the Cost Accounting System (CAS), Model Cost Development System (MCDS), the Purchasing department web page, and the supplier web portal.Tracking and reporting on new model costsOverseeing supplier compliance with Yamaha Green Procurement initiatives.Monitoring the condition of Yamaha owned tooling being used by suppliers, and overseeing the development of annual budgets for the repair and replacement of worn tooling.

 

The Purchasing Analyst is also responsible for developing and maintaining monthly tracking charts for:Supplier On-Time Delivery PerformanceInventory On-Hand BalancesPPM (Quality) dataRaw Material Price TrendsProduction part Cost Development (cost ups and cost downs)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Four-year College Degree (in a business administration or business management related field) plus two years of experience in a Project Management position within a production-manufacturing environment. Equivalent years (5+) of experience in a Project Management position or Production Purchasing environment may be considered in lieu of a four-year college degree.

 

Computer Experience: Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is preferred (not mandatory).  Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Access is helpful. 

 

Other: The Purchasing Planning Analyst must have demonstrated leadership and communication skills with applied experience working in a team / project environment.  Problem identification and problem solving skills are necessary to ensure that the Purchasing department’s new model project targets and goals are consistently met.
