Plant Operations and Maintenance Technician - New Milford, CT

We currently have openings for Plant Operations and Maintenance Technicians in New Milford, CT.
This position is responsible for administration, technical, operations, maintenance, and repairs associated with Solar Turbines turbo-machinery and industrial equipment applications. Technical scope includes industrial equipment, air compressors, cranes, scrubbers, and reciprocating engine/power generation applications. Responsibilities also include; safely performing routine operational testing and adjustments on facility equipment, participate in daily preventative and repair maintenance activities, maintain equipment operating logs and properly document activities while on duty, maintain a safe and clean work environment, comply with regulatory and safety regulations, troubleshoot and repair failed machinery and control systems, operate and maintain various equipment and perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.
This is an “intermediate level” technical and administrative position that safely operates & maintains power plant applications consisting of various gas turbine generator sets, with Heat Recovery Steam Generator’s (HRSG), boilers, Steam Turbines, 2 Titan 130 Turbine Engines, and Balance Of Plant (BOP) equipment.
Technician will work an Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS), consisting of rotational (day and night) 12-hour shift schedule with overtime built in.
Qualifications Include the Following:
Applicable industrial or military training or technical school training, and/or related experience of at least 1 year operating and maintaining industrial facilities required.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds from floor to waist and 20 pounds in awkward positions.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including hearing protection, respirators or SCBA equipment.
Must be able to work from ladders and elevated walkways and possible confined spaces.
Must be able to complete and maintain required safety training & “Authorized Employee” qualifications.
Must be able to complete and maintain required technical training and qualifications.
Possess basic computer skills.
Must possess a valid agency issued drivers license with acceptable driving record.
Understanding of process control, energy management, and the ability to communicate effectively are essential.
Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings are desired.
Industrial electrical knowledge or experience is preferred.
Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Knowledge and skills are generally consistent with military experience in the following rates: GSE, GSM, EN, MM, AE, AT, BT, or AD.
Candidates residing within 1-hour drive time from the facility will be given strong preference.
