Plastics/Injection Mold Technician

Provide service and support to Production by setting tools, preparing materials and auxiliary equipment, and monitoring machine processing to produce high quality products for customers.  Assist the Shift Advisor in Production and for relief.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Shift Advisor with guidance from the Production Manager on processing and setting tools.

 
Responsibilities:From schedules provided by the Production Manager, set up injection molding machines, secondary production equipment and material according to Quality System procedures.Review information at each molding machine daily to monitor process parameters and part quality.Prepare and/or update documentation in Mold Books.  Log cycle times and information on each job running at end of shift in the Process Technicians log book for information sharing purposes.Clean and inspect molds after each production run.  Communicate mold problems to the Shift Advisor.Prepare materials for production by weighing, mixing and/or drying material using established or supplier-recommended methods for uniform processing.Transport necessary material to the machines and ensure that auxiliary equipment is engaged and in proper working order.Perform material and/or color changes by draining and cleaning hoppers and filters, purging machines, refilling with required material.Perform machine shut down procedure by draining and  cleaning hoppers and filters; disengaging power, heat, robots and water; and cleaning and preserving mold.Using established procedures, block or unblock mold cavities as production needs require by making blocks, removing them, or rotating designed runner blocks, and by processing machine and completing process log.Prepare material inventory reports, data sheets and out-of-stock notices.Follow standardized procedures and processes on all set-ups and secondary operations and troubleshoot process problems utilizing Mold Book data including Base Process, water diagrams, etc.Perform preventative maintenance such as lubrication, calibration and cleaning to ensure proper performance of molding machines and auxiliary equipment.Clean all molded parts from machine conveyors, machine beds and underneath machines.

 

Qualifications:

Plastic/Injection Molding Experience Required, along with knowledge of machinery including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity.
