Principal - Development and Training

The purpose of this key role is to consult with and support with the business leaders on all business initiatives involving training and development requirements. This requires a comprehensive understanding of Steel's strategic and tactical direction. . Other duties include: Manage with the Reliability Leadership team to ensure vendor programs/offerings are in compliance with program goals and objectives. Responsible for ensuring training is effective via assessment. Lead ongoing evaluation and enhancement of apprentice program and skilled trade training development. Manage all training systems. This involves the development and maintenance of all training systems utilized by the Steel Group and its segments. e.g. Timken University (Learning Management System) as applied to The Steel Group. Serve as the Steel Group HR Quality Representative with primary responsibility to ensure that training systems meet and reflect the Group's Quality System and its requirements. Manage Alloy Steel's Job Training Model and Salaried Training matrix. Accountable for training relevancy and delivery methods as well as managing the overall health of the model (assessment and improvement). Accountable to insure all records and documents are accurately recorded and reflective of business requirements. Audits organizational adherence to all position based training plans. Works with department coordinators to insure adequate understanding and implementation of model. Partner with plant safety representatives to ensure safety training addresses the needs of the business. Identify resources for use by the plants. Schedule required training (Confined Space, etc) with vendors per legal requirements and work with plant contacts for delivery. Understand and be able to manage the dynamics of groups and teams from a facilitator as well as the formal leadership role. Have ability to facilitate/deliver training to Steel associates (management, professional.) Identify services and products through contact with external suppliers and consultants and apply them in order to improve business performance.  This includes assessment, contact and coordinator to deliver training as well as invoice approval and tracking. Partner with Human Resources representatives to assess needs and develop solutions for cross business and front-end training needs, and take the lead role in assessing and recommending appropriate solutions. The individual will serve as a member of the Alloy Steel Reliability Leadership Team and serve as the key Human Resources contact for the Alloy Steel Apprenticeship programs.Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development with 8 to 10 years of experience. Master's Degree in Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Industrial Psychology with 4 to 6 years of experience. PhD in Org Development, Adult Learning, Industrial Psychology with 4 to 6 years experience. Experience in designing training content for multiple disciplines. Experience in delivering training. Experience in developing a network of trainers. Desired: Broad Organizational Advancement / Human Resource experience. Experience in outsourcing the development of training content.
