Purpose of Position:

-  Participate as a technical team member in the development and scale up of injection molding processes used in the manufacture of New Products.  Serve as a member of the Development Group with focused responsibility for assigned projects and department objectives.

 

Major Responsibilities

- Work with and provide support for the development of new product/process concepts for molding and assembly and demonstrate process reproducibility

- Work with Manufacturing Engineering or directly with Manufacturing Operations during transfer of new processes to Production

- Design and execute process experiments and conduct data analysis to define new process parameters and control limits

- Develop resolution to routine technical problems and execute solutions within developed timelines

- Lead reviews of product designs and mold design of assigned projects

- Provide support for the development of new technologies emerging from Corning Research and Development

- Interface with outside vendors that provide materials or services for assigned projects

- Take responsibility for own personal and professional growth

- Actively participate in internal departmental activities

- Participate in project reviews and department meetings

 

Required Education:

- BS Engineering

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

- 10 years

 

Required Skills:

- Extensive exp. in the operation of injection molding equipment

- Working knowledge of mold design and construction

- Training in DOE techniques and data analysis

 

Desired Skills:

- Familiarity with plastic part assembly processes

- Knowledge of process control systems

- Working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks)

 

Soft Skills:

- Strong communication skills
