Position Summary:
Plan, organize, control, integrate, and complete engineering and safety projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Implements processes and systems for efficient, safe material flow. Recommends, implements and
trains on material handling equipment to ensure safe and ergonomically correct work practices.
• Conducts Job Safety Analysis reviews on various job tasks. Utilizes hourly employees to assist with
the reviews. Recommends and implements process improvements to eliminate potential safety and
ergonomic hazards. Improvements may include redesigning the work cell layout, developing fixtures
for more efficient and safe work practices, and selecting appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Reviews work instructions and ensures that safe working practices are identified, employees are
trained, and work practices are in compliance.
• Spearheads and leads the implementation and education of the plant 5-S and work place organization
systems. Assists in sustaining these programs.
• Performs specific phases or aspects of engineering projects such as technical studies, prototype
and production quote preparation, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans,
and product testing. Also completes tool design and review, mold construction management and gage
and fixture design.
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer
contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Evaluates design changes, specifications, and drawing releases upon approval.
• Responsible for supporting production with work cell improvements and part presentation to the
operator. Writes work orders and follows up on their completion.
• Prepares interim and completion project reports.
Qualifications (Education/Experience) and Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Associate’s degree in related field and five years minimum
relate experience
• Previous experience and/or training with OSHA compliance and ergonomics is required
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports,
and legal documents.
• Ability to respond orally or in writing to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory
agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to effectively present information to employees, management, public groups, and/or boards of
directors.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations,
and permutations.
• Ability to calculate volume, area, mass, pressure, and force calculations. Possess a basic
understanding of physics.
• Ability to demonstrate computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, CADKEY,
or other CAD Program(s).
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and work with several abstract and concrete variables.
