Product Development Engineer - PET Hot Runners

The Product Development Engineer for the PET Hot Runners team is responsible for evaluating and developing advanced technologies for implementation into new PET hot runner products. This position will:

· Follow the product development process (PDP) from start to finish including definition, concepting, prototyping, testing, and final technology implementation phases, in accordance to the project deadline. 

· Provide innovative solutions to complex problems with minimum guidance.

· High level concepting for new development projects.

· Analyze designs to identify areas of improvement and cost reduction.

· Lead design review meetings with manufacturing team to review improvements which can be made to the manufacturing of components.

· Organize and analyze data for summary review with the team.

· Project communication throughout the various phases including schedules, design reviews, development updates and risk assessment reports.

· Conduct engineering analysis during the design process, i.e. Stress, Thermal, Lab and Physical and Electrical testing.

· Evaluate product performance through testing with development lab and possible customer test sites.

· Construction of test models, test cells for the verification of design concepts as a team member.

· Address CARs, SIRs and SIFs and work with Quality/Service to find root cause.

Qualifications:

· Ability to work with conflicting priorities in a changing environment.

· Excellent written and verbal communication.

· Demonstrated success in project management skills.

· Background and knowledge in mechanical design and FEA, fluid dynamics, heat transfer.

· High-level CAD user (Unigraphics is a definite asset) and fluency with MS office products.

· Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, and BaaN.

· Knowledge of CFD and Ansys Workbench/Professional a plus.

· Fundamental plastics processing experience (i.e. Paulsen CD Series)

· Ability to troubleshoot test issues.

· Proven ability to generate innovative solutions to support business needs.BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS preferred

· 3+ years of design experience with experience in new product development preferred
