Product Engineer (M08003)

Is a leading manufacturer of steel and non-metallic products for the electrical contracting market.  This division employs approximately 350 personnel. 

 

Product Engineer will be responsible for design of electrical products and/or components per customer requirements.  Plan and carry through to completion complex assignments in the design and development of new products or the improvements of existing products.  Work from sketches and customer visits to develop ideas and transfer them to final prototypes and drawings.  Follow through to production launch which includes UL/CSA/ETL etc. certification and potential patent applications.  Prepare simple prototype samples and/or work with external suppliers to make samples of new or revised products.  Work with shop supervision to expedite problem resolution and modify drawings as required.  Originate Bill of Material.  Process engineering change notices and other forms as necessary. 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 3-5 years industry experience in designing product and/or tooling for metal stamping, metal casting, and injection molding.  Strong computer skills including 3D modeling (Solid Works preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and SAP will also be important.  Background in patent investigation and application; familiarity with national Electrical Code, Underwriter’s Laboratories, Canadian Standards Association, and other applicable Federal Standards and specifications related to Company’s products; and ability and interest to move into supervisory role desired.  Understanding of metal stamping and forming operations, metal casting, injection molding, heat treating, and coating operations a plus.
