Product Manager (Merchant)

NATIONAL PEN is a privately-held promotional products company that manufactures and sells product internationally through direct mail, telesales, retail, distributor and web channels.  We are headquartered in San Diego, with facilities in Mexico, Tennessee, Ireland, China and the Philippines. Due to continuous growth, we are looking for talented and creative marketing people to join National Pen!

 

 

Position Summary:

The National Pen Corporation is searching for a Product Manager (Merchant) who will produce profitable sales and growth of assigned product lines to meet company goals and drive customer satisfaction.

 

Major Responsibilities:

1.  Direct and oversee product line development and selection assuring that each category is developed to insure maximum market and sales potential while keeping profits and inventory investment in line.

2.  Work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Product Engineering groups to maximize margin, product differentiation and customer satisfaction.

3.  Plan each individual media event with Customer Development -  product selection, pricing, special promotional efforts, GP mix, etc., to maximize and balance returns.

4.  Assure the creation and turnover of accurate information for each media on a timely basis within deadlines.  Minimize and control extra production costs caused by lateness and oversight.

5.  Assure accurate, timely communication of detailed product and pricing information to customer care teams.

6.  Develop product-training programs for customer service personnel.

7.  Monitor competitors to be aware of pricing, products and promotions and their potential effect on us.

8.  Work with Analytics and Customer Development teams to accomplish effective mail plans and “one-to-one” marketing programs.

9.  Work Closely with WEB Team to maximize sales and improve customer shopping experience.

10. Overview vendor performance for needed changes.

11. Direct promotional allowances, rebates and funds due National Pen.

12. Report and communicate to the VP all significant matters on a regular basis.

 

Qualifications:

Outstanding merchant with a proven track record in Direct Marketing with a minimum of 5 years as a merchant.  Thorough and complete understanding of the dynamics of our market.  Ability to grow our business in a competitive environment.  Ability to successfully lead others.  Ability to assist others with patience and care in the development of their product lines.  Ability to create an atmosphere of personal growth, creativity, and teamwork so that the fullest potential of each employee is reached and the company's goals are accomplished.
