Product Supply Department Manager
Aearo Technologies, a leading manufacturer and distributor of high quality safety products, has an immediate opening for a Product Supply Department Manager for our dynamic Northwest, Indianapolis facility. Position Summary: This position will be responsible for managing inventory levels of raw materials, semi-finished goods, trading goods and finished goods in US stock safety. Global roll up and reporting of all Aearo inventory is also required. Forecasting of stock safety finished goods inventory levels to meet sales demands and inventory turns goals along with appropriately forecasting each SKU (stock keeping unit) in the assigned product line is also a responsibility. This position is a “working management” role. Responsibilities will include: Prepare/review sales history on a monthly basis, determines future product requirements and inputs forecast quantity by SKU in SAP (accounting software) on a monthly basis for specific product lines as assigned. Adjusts forecast based on seasonality, planned promotions, new customer requirements, plant production shutdowns, and input from Sales/Marketing. Directs the activities of Product Supply Managers to assure that inventory levels are sufficient to meet customer demands while achieving company inventory turns objectives. Primary personal performance measurements will be tied to achieving fill rate requirements by SBU (strategic business unit), achieving inventory turn requirements and agreed inventory values. Must evaluate the dynamic workload and adjust accordingly to maintain balance. Motivates and develops skills of staff, to continually improve departmental performance. Closely monitors inventory levels and makes adjustments in SAP as needed to maintain the proper balance between supply and demand. Accountable for monthly rationalization and reporting of significant inventory changes. Must stay abreast of internal factors/issues effecting the production of products and external factors affecting the sales of products within assigned area. Often must seek out information as necessary and make decisions regarding the priority of products to be produced. Conduct monthly meetings with Marketing Directors, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to improve supply levels and determine future requirements. Leads unusual demand/product shortage issues under area of responsibility. Evaluates the situation, builds recovery timeline, communicates status to the organization and assures closure to the issue. Develop and issue various reports on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Required to communicate with Manufacturing and Purchasing, determine delivery dates, and communicate to the organization status of product shortages. Insures integrity of MRP1, MRP2 and forecasting segments of SAP. Monitor new product launches and product changes. Assist Purchasing/Production to assure adequate inventory is available on the specified launch date. Responsible for product rationalization/discontinuation efforts within assigned product lines. Working with Manufacturing and Purchasing, continually monitors and evaluates capacity constraints and availability to meet increased demand. Provides analysis to support alleviating capacity bottlenecks. Develops and provides inventory analysis in support of working capital plan development and working capital management. Makes recommended course corrections in forecasts and inventory build to support customer fill rate requirements and inventory reductions as required. Education/Experience Required: BS degree. Prefer degree in Business, Logistics, Management or related discipline. Minimum of 5 years experience with material, production or finished goods planning with an emphasis on inventory management and forecasting. Requirements: Team player, yet effective when working independently. Must be well organized and have excellent follow-up skills. Required to follow-through on commitments and communicate status with internal customers. Prior experience managing a work group. Must be proficient with SAP in areas of data management/reporting and have general SAP knowledge in the following areas: forecasting, consumption, sales (general and customer specific), production planning and material requirement/procurement. Must have an understanding of supply chain management (from material sourcing/planning through manufacturing and distribution). Computer skills, including Windows, Excel, Word and ccMail. Ability to make continuous improvements to the operation of the job function and have strong problem solving skills. Must be able to develop and maintain a strong working relationship with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Production Scheduling and Manufacturing.
