Product Support Engineer

For quick consideration apply herePosition Description The Technical Product Support Specialist provides consistent, reliable, and accurate in-depth technical, application, pricing, customer specification review, and complaint resolution support to the field organization (Customers, Sales Assistants, and Sales Engineers). They use good oral and written communication skills to clearly communicate with customers and Trane personnel to request/provide information and relay data to others. This position also provides periodic feedback and input into changes in products and/or service offerings. Responsibilities • Provide consistent, reliable and accurate in-depth technical and product support answers to technical/systems/application/customer specification questions on Lexington air handlers and unit vent products when requested by internal customers via telephone, e-mail, fax, and online support. • Price and cost equipment on projects coordinated at headquarters consistent with established policies. Assist the field in developing bid strategies and optimizing the product bill of material. • Understanding competitors' products and strategies. Be capable of effectively communicating this information with the field, department, and other functional areas. • Prepare or assist in the preparation of materials required for new or redesigned products. • Host and/or lead discussions as a part of customer visits and factory tours. • Travel to district offices in support of product sales, product training, and product promotion in support of air handling products. This may include formal presentations, individual discussions, and support of display booths. • Develop a thorough understanding of the Trane order entry process and systems. Assist in order entry functions as called out in ISO procedure. • Maintaining adequate record keeping systems on jobs handled to allow others to provide support as backup. • Communicating/working with other functional areas on master scheduling, ship dates, availability of product, late shipment, tracing an order, order status, expediting, and/or other potential problems. • Assist in the training of new sales engineers and department members. • Handle all details of assigned projects from inception to completion within the mutually agreed-upon timetable. • Lead or assist in the product development of new or improved products or software programs that properly position Trane products, systems, solutions, and services. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years experience or BS Engineering plus 0-2 year’s experience. May consider 2-year technical degree plus 8+ years related experience (including 4+ in product/customer support). • Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite and other Windows programs required. • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment required. • Must be capable of grasping technical engineering details to provide solutions for customers. • Knowledge of HVAC products and systems and knowledge of construction industry a plus. • Must be an innovative self-starter capable of setting and meeting goals and deadlines and making critical business decisions. • Must be eager to expand responsibility.For quick consideration apply here
