Product Support Manager
For quick consideration apply hereEnsure that order, market share, and profit goals are met for assigned product lines. Must have excellent product and technical knowledge as well as interpersonal skills to manage daily field support. Responsible for personnel administration, performance evaluations, and salary administration for direct reports. • Provide accurate and timely technical/systems/application/customer specification review/complaint resolution support to the domestic and international field organization. • Establish a professional field and customer support environment, with measurements in place to track performance and improve the process. • Provide day-to-day price administration, volume, and market share management. Price and cost equipment on projects coordinated at headquarters with established policies. Assist field in developing bid strategies and optimizing the product bill of material. • Maintain good understanding of major competitive product lines, marketing strategies, current system types, and relative costs. Effectively communicate this information with the field, department, and other functional areas. • Monitor sales office performance. Implement corrective action for offices with unacceptable market share/price. Travel to sales offices to support product sales, training, and product promotion. • Participate in establishing product lines’ “selling story.” Ensure that field sales support department, appropriate business unit functional areas, and field sales force are familiar with the “selling story.” • Define selection product development and procedures and ensure department is trained on selection optimization. • Initiate competitive “hooks” with projects/promotion group. Make sure department is trained on “hooks.” • Communicate with assigned staff on regular basis to understand their business problems and help them find solutions. Review employees annually, at a minimum, on their performance and career progress. Establish employees’ training requirements, ensure training is completed, and keep appropriate records per ISO procedures. • Provide good direction on assignments to staff to assure objectives are understood, realistic schedules are developed, and established deadlines are met. • Improve department output by developing improved procedures, eliminating unnecessary work, delegating authority, and proposing organizational changes as necessary. • Understand and support business objectives of Trane Commercial Systems and business objectives of assigned product groups. • Assist in training new field sales engineers. • Up to 30% travel required.Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 6 years of product management/HVAC marketing experience required. Completion of Trane Graduate Training Program preferred. HVAC systems and supervisory experience preferred. Excel, Word, and Access proficiency required. Must be tactful, assertive, and an effective and clear decision-maker under pressure situations; ability to deal effectively with customers, sales assistants, and field sales force required. Initiative and ability to recognize, prioritize, and perform required activities with minimum supervision or assistance required. Must be able to recognize developing situations in order to react and diffuse complaints/potential problems, determine when additional assistance is needed, and involve upper management as required. Ability to make effective promotional and in-depth technical presentations required. Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-player skills required.For quick consideration apply here
