MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION

Interpret production requirements information, create and manage the execution of the production plan to maximize on-time completion of scheduled requirements. Responsible to the production control supervisor for analyzing current production plans and future scheduling of manufacturing operations to best support machine schedules and OEM parts orders. Advises superior on problems that may interfere with schedule commitments and assist in devising corrective actions. Responsible for analyzing both current and future shop load by utilizing capacity requirements planning and rescheduling where necessary to reach the following objectives: Level load work centers, validate dispatch lists, improve manpower planning, improve coordination between finishing shops, and provide accurate order completion dates to sales representatives. Accountable for reviewing and responding to ERP generated order action and exception messages. Continual emphasis is placed on process improvements to enhance material flow, throughput, and on time delivery performance.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Utilize capacity requirements planning and weekly utilization graphs by machine and or work center to analyze current and future production plans.

Reschedule production orders where necessary to maintain shop floor sequencing and priority based on available workload and the master production schedule.

Maintain adequate workload to responsible workstations. This may require re- routing future operations and or recommending the release of future requirements.

Responsible for responding to system generated exception messages.

Accountable for production on time starts performance.

Maintain an on-going program of profit improvement through cost reductions, cost avoidance, and process improvements.

Accurately report the status of subject orders at all meetings pertaining to production control to help identify problems, give projected completion dates, and establish shop priorities.

Assist and develop resource planners in various job duties, encourage feedback and suggest procedural improvements within production control department.

Assist other department supervisors in the execution of the material plan and work effectively with Industrial Engineering to ensure manufacturing requirements are completed in a timely manner.

Responsible for the dispatch of work to a designated set of machine tools.

Communicate positively and effectively with all departments within the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.

Identify and resolve material shortages or schedule conflicts.

Perform similar duties as requested or assigned by superior.

Attend required meetings.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS/LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree in Business/Operations Management preferred or 3-5 years experience in master scheduling, inventory planning, or production control.

A thorough knowledge of MRPII principles, inventory control, and production control processes.

APICS - CPIM certification preferred.

Excellent communicator, proactive leader, self-motivated, and assertive.
