Production Design Engineer

SCOPE:

 

Report to Engineering Manager the readiness of new & modified equipment.  Evaluate capabilities of readily available purchased equipment vs. special contract purchased equipment vs. in-house constructed equipment as new opportunities arise.  Develop & construct specialized equipment in-house or by contract.

 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Heavy involvement in new machine purchases & operation.

2. Apply updated technologies to revamp & increase capabilities of older equipment.

3. Develop computer machine control & operating systems.

4. Improve on processes with new equipment recommendation.

5. Up front involvement with new product automation & tooling.

6. Work close with engineering & tool room supervisors.

7. Coordinate the efforts of the maintenance personnel to efficiently and effectively utilize a preventive maintenance program to perform periodic scheduled maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment.

8. Manage building and facility systems upkeep and expansion.

9. Generate and implement strategies for distribution of electricity, compressed air and natural gas.

10. Identify maintenance and repair materials & help develop quality vendor relationships.

11. Train maintenance personnel on repair, assembly, lockout / tagout and safety procedures.

12. Quality assurance shall be an integral part of your job responsibilities.  You are encouraged to contribute and be allowed to participate in quality decisions and actions affecting customer satisfaction with TFI products and services.

13. Evaluate and select components and vendors.

14. Purchase materials and components to construct and upgrade equipment.

15. Assist with machine construction and integration.

16. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SPECIAL FUNCTIONS:Production responsibility for the deep draw transfer presses.Organize and help on weekend maintenance and rotate weekend supervisory duties as needed.
