Production Manager - Food Manufacturing

Position Summary:

 

Directs and manages all aspects of Production and Material handling departments to produce quality products at the lowest possible cost and while meeting sales and production schedule requirements.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 Plans and directs all activities of the Production Department through effective training and development of staff Organizes production activities in timely and cost-effective fashion to ensure that internal and external customer needs are met Responsible for providing a safe work environment by ensuring participation in safety initiatives and leading by example. Tracks key indicators of the plant’s performance including efficiency, yield, waste, downtime, and labor costs and communicating these indicators to the team for further action Provides an atmosphere conducive to positive employee relations and one that creates an atmosphere of teamwork. Promotes Plush Pippin’s and Maplehurst’s mission statements and core values. Sets goals and implements strategies for continuous improvements in quality, processes and waste Directly responsible for product quality, new process development, costing and cost management Supervise and motivates plant’s employees by setting a good example with regard to attitude, work quality, safe practices, attendance, follow-through and organization Coordinate the IPM processes and ensures team member participation in training and procedures.  Develops and implements plans to reach long term goals of IPM as defined by Corporate steering committee.

 

Position Qualifications:

 BS Degree in Business, Food Science, or related field preferred Previous experience in a food production related industry preferred Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge STRONGLY preferred. Solid analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills, using SPC data Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines Strong project management and organizational skills Assertive, confident, and decisive with an ability to work well with others to get things done Computer literate with demonstrated proficiency using AS/400 - BPCS, Outlook, Excel, and Word. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
