Production / Manufacturing Supervisor (2nd shift)

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the efficient operation and associated   administrative and labor relations functions of the Assembly / Paint / Returns operations; including, but not limited to, training, production requirements, safety compliance, quality and general housekeeping.

 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

  - Oversees and directs the efforts and production (including preparation of daily work assignment rosters) of the Assembly / Paint / Louver / Small Order Factory departments.  Ensures timely line set ups to minimize downtime and is responsible for routinely stocking KANBANs with appropriate parts for uninterrupted morning "start-ups."  Also oversees and directs the Customer Service / Returns area.

 

  - Responsible for ensuring a full stock of tools and supplies (in good working order and readily accessible) for all Assembly and Paint areas personnel.  Also coordinates repair of damaged tools and equipment with the Maintenance department.

 

  - Responsible for accurate review of daily labor incentive sheets (quantities, labor standards, run time, downtime) and initiation of any applicable corrective and/or disciplinary actions.

 

  - Enforces the provisions of the Union (I.B.E.W.) contract.

 

  - Training, motivation and discipline (where applicable) in accordance with Company standards and policies.

 

  - Controls tardiness, absenteeism and labor turnover in accordance with Company policy and coordinates vacations, LOA's and sick time with production schedules.

 

  - Responsible for safety (of all applicable operations and personnel) and takes necessary actions to eliminate safety concerns and hazards and enforces all safety rules in accordance with Company policy.  Also dispenses safety items (PPE, first aid supplies, etc.) in the absence of the plant nurse.

 

  - Responsible for quality control and accurate reporting and reduction of scrap and rework.

 

  - Makes recommendations for cost savings, material changes, equipment, etc.

 

  - Effective communications; at all levels with regards to production, policies, safety, etc.

 

  - Communicates with Production Manager daily; operations, personnel/labor issues, unusual occurrences, status of projects, etc.

 

  - Coordinates and communicates with night shift supervisor; operations, personnel issues, etc.

 

  - Works closely with Senior Industrial Engineer(s) with regards to the development and/or revision of labor standards.

 

  - Works closely with Production Control (re: potential shortages, shrinks, quality issues, labor deviations, etc.).

 

  - Works closely with Press Shop (re: Assembly floor issues and expediting of parts).

 

  - Attends daily production scheduling meetings; reports on daily production, problems and next day's outlook.

 

  -Responsible for maintaining all applicable work areas in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.

 

  - Executes all required paperwork with accuracy, competence and promptness.

 

  - Performs additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager and/or General Manager.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  -

  - 3 to 5 years of supervisory, manufacturing experience.

 

  - Effective communication, leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

 

  - Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, high-pressure    environment.

 

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED (+) EXPERIENCE:

 

  - Previous supervisory experience in a union, manufacturing environment.

 

  - Experienced in the application of JIT/TQM principles.

 

  - Fluency in Spanish.

 

-  Knowledge and previous experience with MRP

 

-  Industrial Engineering background.
