Production Supervisor/Quality Control

Production Supervisor / Quality Control We are seeking a Production Supervisor for the Quality Control / Dry Kiln area at our Lumber mill / Sawmill facility located in South Carolina. Successful candidate will possess leadership ability, be process and quality minded and have strong computer skills.

Responsibilities:

*Be in compliance of all safety, health and environmental aspects of our organization and operation. Follow the Employee Code of Conduct.

*Function as Head Lumber Grader by training lumber graders and grader trainees with classroom instruction and shed coaching. Create study material and prepare graders for lumber grading competitions. Provide detailed tracking of grader performance through data analysis and spreadsheets.

*Calibrate and maintain all hand-held moisture meters used in the Planer mill. Document calibrations and findings. Ensure certification of calibration blocks.

*Perform dressed inventory and quality control weekly. Assist with rough-dry inventory as needed.

*Work with scalers and saw operators to seek ways to improve quality of raw material and increase recovery. Be proactive with process improvements.

*Create and implement a size control program to measure and reduce sawing variations with the desire goal of reducing lumber thickness. Provide training on the program.

*Observe stacking, drying and lumber storage practices and suggest ways to improve quality of product.

*Perform quality audits through the entire production process to ensure the quality of the final product will meet or exceed customer expectations.

Requirements
B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Forestry or wood related field.
3+ years experience working in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment, wood industry a plus.
Leadership ability.
Strong Microsoft Office skills to include Excel.
