Production Technician

I.  JOB SUMMARY:

 

  Set-up, operate, maintain, repair, perform quality check, perform preventative maintenance and complete accurately all documentation related to the following functions and/or as deemed required by NutraMax. 

 

II.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

To retain the position employees must be able to rotate through all the processing and packaging equipment and show proficiency in the aspects listed below as designated by NutraMax.

 

  Set- up equipment

·  Setup equipment according to manufacturers and product specifications

·  Change format parts as required.

·  Make mechanical & programming adjustments according to manufacturers and product specifications to achieve quality and efficiency standards as determined by NutraMax

·  Document all set-up parameters

·  Verify set-up by inspecting product output before production run (notify QA if needed)

·  Complete accurately all set-up and line clearance documentation

·  Inspect and load raw materials as required

  Operate

·  Operate designated equipment to meet or exceed machine efficiencies and/ or product standards

·  Make necessary programming/mechanical adjustments to maximize throughput and quality requirements

·  Inspect and load raw materials as required

·  Inspect all materials both raw and finished goods on a scheduled basis as required by QA & NutraMax

·  Complete all documentation as required by NutraMax

·  Be able to direct other line operators during production run & line clearances to minimize change over time and maximize throughout/machine efficiency as required by NutraMax standards.

·  Report to Group Leader or Supervisor any issues/problems effecting quality, machine efficiency etc. 

 

`  Repair/Maintain

·  Troubleshooting  - must be able to troubleshoot designated equipment for the following:

o  Electrical failures

o  Mechanical failures

o  Programming failures

o  Material failures

o  Compressed air failures

o  Vacuum failures

o  Conveyor belt failures

o  Others failures as designated by NutraMax

 

·  Repair – make minor repairs as required to above listed failures

 

·  Preventative Maintenance – perform daily, weekly, monthly and all scheduled preventative maintenance requirements according to manufacturers & NutraMax’s specifications

 

 

 

 

General

·  Follow GMP’s, SOP’s and company policies/procedures.

·  Train new personnel on the duties and responsibilities of operating all equipment as deemed required by NutraMax

·  Must be able to operate/maintain multiple pieces of equipment as one time.

·  Must be able to read, interpret and execute from basic schematics, machine blue prints and drawings, equipment manufacturers and operating manuals.

·  Must be able to operate & use safely:

o  Hand tools

o  Electrical measuring devices

o  Power tools (i.e.: air & vacuum)

 

 

III.  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

·  Proof of high school and/or technical school diploma preferred

·  Must be able to speak, read and write English.  (testing may be required)

·  Must pass a Mechanical aptitude test.

·  3 – 5 years experience in machine operation, machine repair and machine maintenance or equivalent schooling preferred.

 

IV.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS:

 

1. Operate power equipment.

2. Stand a minimum of 8 hours per day, and be able to lift up to 50 lb.

3. Must have 20/40 correctable vision and be able to distinguish colors.

4. Must wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required.

5. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, climb stairs/ladders, reach overhead and have no height restrictions.

6. Must be able to work with machine oils, solvents, glues and plastic, latex or rubber compounds.
