POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Manager will focus on project/program management (60%) and design and/or sustaining engineering work (40%). The Program Manager must have the capability and desire to perform engineering and project/program management activities.
This position significantly impacts the delivery of new products for the company. The Program Manager facilitates the timely investigation, development and release of products. This position is also responsible for assuring these development projects are performed within budgetary and quality expectations. The Program Manager will lead program or project team focused on the delivery of incrementally improved products requiring multi-disciplinary coordination. The Program Manager leads the specification of, develops, verifies and manages such, to an acceptable level of technical risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality, while maintaining a positive disposition, high performance standards and captures/institutionalizes technical lessons learned.
The candidate must have solid problem solving skills, business skills, verbal and written communication skills. The Program Manager must have strong relationship building skills, as well as an aptitude and desire to grow into greater leadership responsibility. He/she must have a preliminary understanding of project management tools and approaches to manage multi-disciplinary projects and the flexibility to lead dynamic multi cultural teams to deliver balanced and integrated technical solutions, projects and programs to our customers challenging problems.
International travel as frequent as once per quarter may be required.
Reports to: Director, Product Development
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the development and tracking of integrated program plans. Utilizes New Product Delivery and Program Management processes to meet program objectives and maintain program tracking and communications.
· This includes but is not limited to:
Þ Performing effective meeting facilitation
Þ Creating and maintaining project schedules
Þ Coordinating and recording design review meetings and discussions
Þ Compile, record, and distribute required status reports, test results and other required documentation
Þ Maintain development related documentation
Þ Maintain the project history fileDevelop, maintain, and execute detailed project schedules and budgets.Obtain and assign human and financial/capital resource requirements to ensure successful New Product Delivery projects.Maintain existing products through allocating design and engineering time when needed to meet customer expectations. Coordinate these efforts with the Product Managers and Manufacturing.Actively participate on the product oversight teams for the product lines within the scope of the Business Unit.Actively participate in design reviews and New Product Delivery phase change reviews Communicate necessary meeting attendance to extended New Product Delivery team membership.Create and revise designs and models in accordance with AIC Design Standards and solid engineering judgment with appropriate software tools Develop, execute and summarize test plans for Root Cause Analysis, Verification and Validation of mechanical or electrical/controls components and systemsStructure program/project teams to ensure maximum performance. Provides purpose, direction and motivation to team. Clarify and communicate program objectives and success criteria while identifying and mitigating risks and managing issues to closure
Required Education & Experience
· BS in Electrical, Software, or Controls Engineering or related technical field
· Five or more years in product development with at least three years of program/project management
· Ability to utilize commonly accepted project management tools to assist in the development of, and adherence to a project schedule.
· Software/firmware development, integration and troubleshooting (Assembly Language, C/C++, Visual Basic/C++) experience
· Firmware/hardware requirement and specifications development (design documentation package) experience
· Design and integration of embedded systems and Architectures (micro controllers (Intel, TI, FreeScale), Single Board Computer/Win CE, RTOS) experience
· Experience leading software and hardware design reviews
· Excellent organizational skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated conflict resolution and facilitation skills.
· Ability to present complex or difficult messages clearly and persuasively
· Proven ability to think strategically and analytically, generate results, lead in a team environment, solve problems, and communicate effectively
· Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage many tasks/projects simultaneously.
Desired QualificationsMS, MA, or MBA in business, marketing, engineering, or technology management preferred
