Project Engineer - FEA

The Engineered Products Research Center of Veyance Technologies, Inc. (formerly Goodyear Engineered Products) located in Fairlawn, Ohio is a professionally diverse organization of scientists, engineers, compounders, and supporting staff, whose primary mission is to provide the scientific disciplines required to maintain technological leadership in support of Veyance's global businesses (EP). The main products include: conveyor belts, transportation and industrial hose and power transmission belts, hydraulics, air springs, and molded transportation products.


Job Content:
* Conduct research and development work in computer modeling and material characterization technologies for use in current and future rubber and plastic based products, to enable the company to maintain its leadership position in global markets.
* Perform finite element analysis of existing and new designs to meet product performance & customer requirements across all product lines of the company.
* Actively participate in global multi-disciplinary product development, process improvement & problem solving teams. The teams typically include plant level development and Qtech groups, corporate & plant purchasing, safety, sales & marketing.
* Promote technical interactions with plants to ensure the division is aware of available finite element and computer capabilities.
* Some travel is required to maintain active contact with plant groups, suppliers & customers.
* Hands-on lab testing and process work is required.
* Documentation of analyzes are expected in the form of detailed technical reports, presentations & management updates.


Requirements:
* Mechanical Engineering degree
* Must have basic knowledge of Linear Finite Element Analysis techniques, including experience in running basic linear example problems through finite element computer modeling software packages.
* Must have basic knowledge of material testing, including basic tensile and compression testing of linear materials.
* Trained in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Fully functional in the use of the Microsoft Operating system.
* Proficiency with standard computer applications.
* Good communication and technical documentation skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work effectively as a member of domestic or international teams
* An understanding of quality systems.
* Highly motivated, self-initiating individual.


Beneficial but not Required:

* Microsoft Excel Programming Experience

* Microsoft Basic Programming Experience.

* Mathematica Software Experience.

* Hyperelastic Material Testing and Finite Element Modeling.

* Abaqus CAE and Finite Element Code Experience.
