Position Summary:

The Project Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering and is a key member of the management team.  The primary objective of this individual is to manage capital projects and contractors to ensure that all capital projects are managed within budget and completed on-time.  The Project Engineer will manage projects that support the company safety, quality, customer service and cost objectives of the plant operational departments. 

  Primary Responsibilities

1.  Ensure that all plant operations activities comply with all applicable regulatory and customer requirements (FDA, OSHA, AQMD, etc.)

2.  Support plant-wide efforts to improve plant safety results.

3.  Support cross-functional efforts to improve quality and productivity while reducing waste.

4.  Develop and manage project timelines and budgets.

5.  Support efforts to reduce the amount of time required to perform equipment changeover.

6.  Support efforts to improve the PM program for facility and plant equipment.

 

Requirements

1.  Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline

2.  5+ years of project management experience in a packaging operation. 

3.  A minimum of five years of experience managing salaried employees.

4.  Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

5.  5+ years of experience managing capital projects (including contractors).

6.  3+ years of experience developing cost justification for capital expenditures.

7.  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

  Preferences

1.  Experience with liquid filling operations

2.  Experience with batch processes

3.  Experience in a FDA regulated environment (food, beverage, personal care, OTC pharmaceutical and/or the cosmetics industry).

4.  Ability to speak Spanish

5.  Experience with continuous improvement methods (Lean, Six sigma or other programs).

6.  Advanced technical or business degree
