Project Manager Electronic Product Development
Project Manager, Electronic Product Development Oxford University Press has an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our Electronic Product Development team. This individual will manage the development of new and existing online products while working closely with our Editorial Departments. Responsibilities· Manage the full product development life cycle of planning, design, development, testing, launch, and ongoing maintenance· Conduct specification and design review meetings with project stakeholders· Prepare detailed functional requirement documentation to ensure that new products and updates are clearly defined· Prepare RFPs, RFIs and all supporting documentation to enable vendors to accurately quote on new or existing projects· Manage relationship with external software development vendors and act as the key point of contact during the development life cycle and post launch support· Responsible for projects being delivered on schedule, to scope, within budget, and meeting user needs· Coordinate testing and feedback during Alpha and Beta test periods· Advise about XML content preparation and coordination with desired product features· Manage requests for changes, bug fixes, and upgrades to existing products· Provide information for new product business plans, including estimating costs for development, hosting, support, and maintenance· This is not a technical project management position. Candidate must have solid project management experience and proven track record in managing projects with diverse membership such as senior-level Editors, Publishers, Sales and Marketing managers. · Provide status and analysis to senior-level management and team members as required. Experience· Minimum 3 years project management experience · Effective communication, influencing, and negotiation skills· Experience managing external vendors · Confident and collaborative team leadership skills · Publishing experience, including conversion of print products to electronic· An understanding of the online and electronic market and its requirements, particularly those of the library sector· Technical understanding of web-based product development (how it works and how a user would access information and navigate a site). · A basic understanding of XML and its relationship to product functionality· Publishing experience helpful, but not required if candidate has significant experience managing data/content for web applications.· The Project Manager will deal with librarians. It will be helpful if they can learn to understand what that audience needs and how users access reference material on-line.
