Proposal Manager

The Safety and Security Systems Group, based in University Park, IL is a division of Federal Signal Corporation, a $1.2B company. This division designs and manufactures a suite of products and integrated solutions for municipal, governmental and industrial customers.

We are currently seeking a Proposal Manager for our Safety & Security Products Group located in University Park, Illinois.

Typical duties for this position would include:

•Assists in pre-RFP tasks such as facilitating customer key issues analysis, competitive strengths and weaknesses analysis, and development of win strategies and themes and discriminators.
•Plans and coordinates activities of the proposal team members.
•Identifies resource needs.
•Directs proposal department staff.
•Works closely with sales and operations staff to develop responsive proposals oriented to customer needs, whether specific or unstated.
•Monitors and reports on proposal progress.
•Plans formal reviews.
•Runs, review teams, and develops recovery plans.
•Mentors proposal staff.
•Supervises production of hard and electronic copies, assembly, book check, packing, and delivery to customers.
•Identifies and obtains resources needed and manages preparations for orals presentations when required.

Requirements for this position include:

•Must have a 4 year college degree and 7 to 10 or more years of experience in proposals or sales, including experience in the engineering and public safety business and the contracting strategies that apply.
•Must be able to write proposal responses and maintain database of responses to build knowledge base for future proposals.
•Must have experience managing government proposals and good writing skills.
•Requires use of an electronic proposal management system.
•Ability to work in complex unstructured environment, work under heavy demands. Experience with contract and proposal management.
•Willing to work long hours and weekends under pressure and ability to work in a matrix environment.
•High technical background preferred.
