Proposal Writer

Clever Devices is entering a phase of significant market growth, including the introduction of leading edge transit technologies and has an opening position for a Proposal Writer in the Business Development Division. 

 

Candidate’s responsibility will be to direct the development and management of the proposals and work with the product managers and sales representatives.

Requirements
Bachelor Degree in an Engineering or other technical discipline is desired.

A minimum of 7 years experience in transit technology or operations with experience in preparing technical proposals and quotations. Demonstrated ability to establish proposal questions, setup proposal annotated outlines, develop win strategies, direct and manager technical input, write non-technical proposal sections, and deliver through production a finished product. 

 

Knowledge and familiarity of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and the transit industry.

 

Ability to establish credibility and develop strong working relationships with the sales organization, product managers, as well as with the company’s customers.


Results driven and team oriented with sound judgment, strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and an ability to balance company objectives with the needs of our customers while being decisive in securing project opportunities.


Organized with excellent time management skills, an attention to detail and a strong sense of priority, urgency and commitment to deadlines.


Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and internet resources is an absolute must!

Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, is required. 


This position is a direct report to VP of Business Development and will work in completing the following :   

 

Preparation of technical proposals as part of the bid process including :

a.  pre evaluation of customer inquiries leading to an offer/ no offer decision
b.  development of a proposal strategy and solution architecture that will maximize the potential for profitably winning the contract

c.  ability to work with product mangers to affect a technical architecture /solution compliant with RFP specifications with built in discriminators when/where possible
d.  ensuring the required design information has been included in the proposal and is supported within the Clever Devices product availability or planned in the product roadmaps. 

e.  issuing proposals within the timeline required, and supporting project handover to the project management / delivery team by addressing questions regarding proposal solution design and contract commitments.  

f.  ensuring that the proposal design complies with customer RFP specifications, and company standards.

g.  assisting in selection of equipment suppliers and installation subcontractors

h.  maintaining the proposal materials library

i.  obtaining proposal feedback and ensure lessons learned are incorporated as necessary as part of our proposal continuous improvement process

j.  other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned by VP Business Development

 

Travel:  30%
