General Description:The general responsibility of the pulp mill/utilities supervisor is to lead and support a work group of eighteen hourly employees working a southern swing shift rotation. The individual is responsible for safety, productivity, quality, and cost. Specific Duties: The Pulp Mill/Utilities Supervisor is expected to provide clear direction and vision, build effective teams, focus on customer needs, and practice sound business management. The successful candidate is responsible for monitoring and evaluating employee?s job performance and providing coaching and corrective action as needed in order to ensure safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost, and lean manufacturing initiatives are achieved. In the area of safety, the individual is responsible for leading safety activities including one-on-one safety discussions, condition monitoring, housekeeping and safety inspections, safety meetings, accident investigations, near miss reporting, and development of job safety analyses. In addition, the individual is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving product quality and equipment problems utilizing hourly personnel, maintenance employees, and other department/mill resources. An understanding of environmental regulations as it relates to water, air, steam, and condensate is necessary. Constant communication is required within the department as well as across other areas of the mill. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership experience preferably in a union manufacturing environment. A technical background in kraft/pulping and/or utilities or an advanced technical degree is preferred. The desired work experience level is 2-5 years. COMPENTENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: ?
