Purchasing Specialist

Description:

Purchases MRO items to maintain minimum and maximum levels of inventory based upon effective and efficient inventory control principles. This individual stages alternate suppliers to assure competitive bidding; follows through on orders placed with vendors to assure proper delivery dates so as not to create shortages or emergency situations; prepare numerous statistical reports on principal and minor supplies.
Major interactions include:



-Vendors involving purchasing of MRO and communication of complaints on incorrect materials shipped, late deliveries, back orders, and obtain bids and delivery information on supplies
-Railroad and trucking company personnel on anticipated delivery dates
-Finance personnel on supply inventories, price variances
-Operating personnel on routine day to day activities, including arrival dates of supplies and possible alternative supplies/suppliers
-Purchasing personnel on the dates of shipments and inventory levels


Qualifications:

MUST have a bachelors degree in related filed with 3 years purchasing experience.

 Experience in shipping/warehouse/inventory materials management and vendor negotiations.

 Working knowledge of MRP systems with SAP experience a plus!

 MUST have proficiency in personal computer applications (Excel, Word Processing)

Pay Range: 50-55k
