QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER

DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for "hands on" monitoring of the production process for conformance with ISO requirements; performance of company, system, compliance and surveillance audits for a machine shop that manufactures component parts. Duties include investigating customer issues, writing and updating quality assurance procedures in consultation with employees to maintain the Quality System. The successful candidate will possess strategic and tactical capabilities while managing the activities and performance of the Quality department in a manufacturing setting. Product release coordination and document control functions are required at the Corporate location as well as two other locations in CA. In order too succeed you must create a culture that ensures speed to market, while reducing risk and increasing quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible to ensure Company wide continuous enhance of our existing procedures to ensure our products meet or exceed product requirements for inspection of machined aluminum parts and aluminum extrusion.Educate the QA/QC staff, as well as keeping other departments, factories and management informed on current, related issues.Provides consistency of practices and procedures, compliance and direct management to fill customer orders with as-ordered, to spec, quality, and compliant product from all factories.Develop and maintain a responsive action oriented and value added organization by recruiting skilled personnel.Providing proper training and cross-train all employees as required.Working closely with the sales and management team to resolve issues and put in place measures to avoid issues recurring.Work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing requirements, options, in a clear, constructive and positive manner. Implement QA entry and exit criteria, quality metrics and reporting.Build a strong technical culture that allows for growth, flexibility, and innovation.Understand and solve compliance issues associated with the Quality System.Evaluate QA staff for job performance, development, recognition and disciplinary action.Maintain ISO requirements and procedures as needed.Manage all internal and external audits to successful closure.Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities related to quality and compliance policies, guidelines and systems. Act as a spokesperson on quality and regulatory issues for the company.
REQUIRMENTS:BS in science, engineering, quality or related field5 plus years working in a manufacturing environmentMust possess strong leadership, communication and process management skills 5 plus years quality assurance and compliance experience requiredAble to define and implement QA strategy and document QA processes and proceduresDetail oriented, able to thrive in a fast moving environment with shifting priorities and changing requirements.Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of employees, across geographic and cultural boundaries.Some travel will be required, which may include nights and/or weekends, due to the other locations in CA.Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 Standard; regulations and conformance Strong, organized, technical approach to problem solving and product inspectionGood math and computer skillsKnowledge of manufacturing processes requiredFamiliar with mechanical inspection techniques using a variety of metrologies such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, CMM, etc.Knowledge of Customer Quality Standards
