Specialty Manufacturing, Inc., located in Pineville, NC, has an immediate opening for a Quality Auditor/Technician.

 

SUMMARY

Support the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the ISO 9000-2000 quality management system.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPosition will report to the Quality Manager and requires ability to read blueprints, knowledge of quality gages, strong math skills and ability to use Microsoft Office.

 Responsibilities include visual and dimensional inspection, testing & lot audits on production floor.

 Monitors, performs and documents sampling and inspection of incoming materials, sampling/testing of products, and documents the results in compliance with procedures and guidelines.

 Participate in quality meetings, assistance in audit scheduling, and maintenance of QA files; monitoring for compliance with regulations as well as standard operating procedures, ISO 9001:2000, data, and verifying chart/reports for compliance.

 Positive interaction with mfg personnel and generation of accurate audit reports is required.

 Sampling on a statistical basis on all incoming production materials.

 Perform inspection on products as required, including dimensional verification using callipers, micrometers or other applicable measuring devices.

 Perform audits for Manufacturing, and Shipping processes as well as Incoming, WIP and Outgoing/finished product in accordance with defined procedures/work instructions and customer specifications- seek corrective action by immediately alerting the area's supervisor of all findings.

 First piece monitoring and occasional unit functionality verification.

 Support manufacturing by performing special audits, inventory counts/purges and data input to facilitate analyses.

 Input results of all inspections/audits onto hard copy records in a timely and accurate manner for weekly highlight and trend analysis

 Recording the characterization data of the sample and determining ACCEPT or REJECT lot status including labelling the lot containers accordingly.

 Notifying Receiving personnel of lot disposition for proper handling/storage.

 Verify components and assemblies as per the Bill of Materials and assist with receiving activities.

 Immediate Feedback to Area Supervisor(s) for any discrepancies to be deemed for rework and/or corrective action.

 Perform test set-up and sample/life testing of SMC products including monitoring and data tracking on Lifetest activities.

 Occasional split-shift coverage of above listed responsibilities.

 Issue, track and closure of red tags.

 Perform mechanical calibrations when due.  Complete and file calibration records and reports as required.

 Analyze test data and make 1st pass recommendations towards root cause corrections and/or product dispositions.

 Assist in the training of new QC staff.

 Assist in other areas, as assigned


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1.  Qualified candidate will have a High School diploma and a minimum of 2 years experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.

 

2.  Candidates should have a minimum of 2 + years in Quality Management System Auditing. Strong communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office) required. Must be self-starter and be able to interface effectively with people.

 

3.  Auditor experience is a plus. ASQ Certified Quality Auditor experience preferred.

 

4.  Must be able to use common metrology tools to include micrometers, calipers and height gauges.

 

5.  Calibration of simple metrology tools. Complete and file calibration records and reports as required.

 

6.  Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/drawings and specifications.

 

7.  Must have basic electrical connection knowledge (including connections with parameter readouts, using voltage and current meters)

 

8.  Previous experience in statistical and/or quality control and familiarity with PPAP requirements

 

9.  CMM experience desired

 

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
