Description:

This position has a broad impact on plant performance through heat treat operations and raw material controls.  The nature of transmission production makes it imperative to have someone with metallurgical training at this facility.  It also serves as a metallurgical resource for the rest of the Division.  Developing through appraisal of key indicators the appropriate capital, systems, or training needed to meet our quality standards and to improve if possible to a level above expectations.

Responsibilities:
Engineering, implementing, supervising and maintaining heat treat processes.
Training, scheduling, and administration of heat treat operators and metallurgical lab personnel.

To develop and monitor all metallurgical based processes such as heat treating and plating.

To work with suppliers and plant personnel to resolve raw material problems and develop quality improvements.

To maintain and equip the Met Lab to perform the necessary evaluations for the plant and Division.

To perform metallurgical evaluations and present reports.

To assure an adequate understanding of the requirements of metallurgical processes throughout the plant in order to assure proper scheduling, production and rework.

Metallurgical evaluations and reports
Understands the quality requirements for the processes he/she works with.
Inspects the daily operations to insure that the correct process, machine, and quality standards are being followed.
Demonstrated ability to effectively implement continuous improvement initiatives
Develops and manages the audit systems within the product line by establishing requirements, conduct, and measurement.
Takes a leadership role with continuous improvement.
Develops and/or contributes to product FMEA, control plans, customer acceptance, documentation and other methods related to APQP processes.
Leads efforts in achieving all customer Quality System Requirements.
Assists the Sulligent operations in achieving total customer satisfaction in Quality, Delivery, and Service.

 

Requirements

Three to Five years Experience in a Quality Manufacturing Environment preferred.
4 yr Degree in Technical Field or equivalent experience.
Six Sigma (Black Belt Experience) preferred
Preferred ASQC Certification

Ferrous Metallurgy Experience Required

Aluminum Metallurgy acquired by ASM Training Courses

Failure Analysis

Heat Treating & Plating Processes Experience Required.
