Charter Steel is currently looking for a Quality Technical Manager to join our team.

 

The Quality Technical Manager will partner with manufacturing, Technical Services, Sales, Product Manager, and customers to develop new process capabilities and research new methodologies.  The successful candidate will have the ability to utilize their background in melting, refining and casting operations to make effective decisions regarding the production of steel for Charter Steel’s primary markets.  A key responsibility will be to maintain Charter Steel’s quality systems.  This position will work to meet and exceed all customer requirements as it relates to product development and investigation and resolution of customer claims through corrective actions and problem solving activities.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

·  Bachelors in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

·  Minimum 5 years experience in quality control and materials testing with a working knowledge of metallurgical chemical principles

·  Experience in melting, refining and casting operations

·  Demonstrated ability to translate previous industrial experience and make effective production decisions in a variety of industries

·  Basic understanding of statistics, statistical process control, and industrial experimental design

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills

·  Demonstrated ability to foster and promote positive employee relations

·  Previous experience supervising and leading teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·  Master’s degree (M.S. or MBA)

·  Demonstrated skills with personal, MES, and IT database computer applications

·  Background in hot rolling of steel bar and rod, and steel processing (cleaning/coating, annealing and wire drawing)

·  ASQC certifications
