R & D Interconnect Process Engineer

Miasolé is opening the door to global-scale, cost effective solar power by developing the next generation of thin film solar modules using CIGS to produce the highest efficiency for single junction thin films in the industry.

Position Responsibilities:

Design and conduct experiments in the area of electrical interconnections within photovoltaic modules

Develop material sets and processes that provide reliable electrical connections capable of surviving to 25+ years in harsh outdoor environments

Collaborate with Miasole's equipment engineering group and product design engineers to ensure designs, processes and materials are compatible with high-volume automated manufacturing

Define, document and maintain process instructions, best known methods (BKM), and experimental plans and procedures

Identify and implement cost reductions opportunities in design, materials and processing

Educational/Experience Requirements:

BS or MS degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or related field

Familiarity with reliability testing and failure modes of electronic components and assemblies

Experience with metallurgy and metalworking, metals joining processes such as welding, joining and soldering

Familiarity with analytical, test and measurement equipment for electronics and semiconductor devices

Experience with thin-film device processes, behavior and reliability is strongly desirable

Skill Requirements:

Strong hands-on capabilities; ability to quickly become familiar and proficient with new measurement, analytical and production equipment

Skilled in use of statistical analysis techniques and design of experiments

Organized and thorough; provides complete and well organized reports on experiments and analyses

A closer; brings projects swiftly to completion

Strong problem-solving skills, failure analysis and troubleshooting abilities, particularly in the area of device-level electronics

Ability to focus and prioritize; to plan projects and execute to the plan
