RESEARCH SCIENTIST/RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR

 

Contribute to an active chromatography/separations research group by helping with the development of novel separations, designing new sampling systems, and carrying out routine and non-routine chromatographic analyses. This person will develop and carry out new separation/chromatographic methods to support an active flavor and fragrance R&D program.  This includes designing ways to extract, separate and prepare complex samples containing flavors or fragrances. 

 

REQUIREMENTS-

 

· Essential:

 

The position requires a BS in Chemistry (10 or more years experience) or MS in Chemistry (3-5 years experience), or entry-level PhD with extensive coursework in or experience with chemical separations method development & theory.  In-depth knowledge of chromatographic theory, sample preparation theory and the ability to apply theory to development projects is fundamental to this position.  Familiarity with Agilent GC equipment and ChemStations, ability to work independently and a high degree of comfort with MS Windows and Office are needed.  The ability to critically examine data and give careful attention to detail is essential. 

 

· Preferred:

 

Knowledge of HPLC, GC/MS and knowledge of polymer separations is helpful.  Candidates will benefit from understanding of elementary data quality assurance concepts, basic MS interpretation skills, and knowledge of flavor and fragrance chemicals. 

 

This position requires the ability to work under extreme pressure and respond to rapidly changing work assignments; it requires a cooperative attitude towards working relationships with peers; good verbal and written communication skills; a “can-do” attitude with high motivation and initiative.  Proven problem-solving record is a definite plus.
