Position Description:
Scholastic Book Fairs works with schools across the country to host more than 120,000 annual reading events, connecting more than 55 million children with great books each year. Book Fairs foster enthusiasm for reading, while helping to build school and classroom libraries by providing students, teachers and parents access to thousands of books and educational products at affordable prices. We are looking for a Regional Inventory Manager to be responsible for the following: Operational Management Create aisle set-up and alphabetical book fair lists as necessary. Effectively manage seasonality cycles of delivery and distribution of products.Functional Expertise Forecast and order inventory that promotes opportunities for increased revenues. Manually and electronically track shipping and receiving of inventory Direct the inventory shipments to the Branch offices to ensure maximum utilization of existing inventory. Direct the communication of information, concerning inventory levels, to the appropriate department. Work with the corporate staff to monitor sales and inventory levels. Coordinate and direct the bi-annual inventory counts. Administer orders of special titles not carried in inventory.Leadership Management Supervise the shipping and receiving staff at the Regional warehouse. Work closely with the General Manager, Regional Operations Manager and Sales Manager, recommending methods of marketing titles to enhance the skills of the sales staff. Communicate with General Manager, Corporate Inventory Manager and other key personnel to identify methods of utilizing supplemental titles and improving merchandising plans. Qualifications:
BA/BS in Management, Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or Operations related area preferred. Minimum of 5 years of Inventory Control/Inventory Management experience. Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity. Hands on management experience of inventory planning (yearly, monthly and weekly) inventory execution (cycle counts, shipping & receiving) and other inventory related processes in a distribution center environment Knowledge Must have knowledge of a computerized inventory management system with scanner functionality. AS400 system familiarity preferred. Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook email. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to lift/carry up to 40lbs, push/pull cases up to 300lbs.
