Research Scientist

Zeus Industrial Products, Inc. is the leading manufacturer of fluoropolymer tubing for use in the medical device, aerospace, electronics, analytical, semiconductor, and environmental industries.  We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Scientist.

The successful candidate for this position will serve as a technical resource in support of Research and Development, plant quality, manufacturing, and customer support.  The candidate must be independent and highly motivated as well as having substantial core knowledge of and experience with synthesis of materials, processes, applications, and characterization techniques.  The successful candidate will be expected to lead and support multidisciplinary projects from conception through manufacturing transfer.  The candidate will participate in the supervisory process, including training and coordinating work for key projects.

Primary Duties:Develop new products and processes through synthesis, functionalization, and modification Design, develop, and synthesize novel and relevant polymers Define resin requirements for product development Provide technical assistance to optimize and enable manufacturing processes Conduct statistical analysis of processes, reactions and properties Evaluate and characterize polymer performance behavior

 
Requirements:Ph.D Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or equivalent field 5 years minimum relevant experience

 

Specific Skills & Experience: Strong troubleshooting skills In depth knowledge of Polymer characterization and structure-property relationships Understanding of reaction kinetics and polymerization techniques Hands on mastery with a wide range of analytical instruments as well as test development Understanding of most analytical techniques available Diverse polymer experience Material characterization through rheological, mechanical, and chemical properties Implementation of statistical design and analysis of experiments In-depth background in process and product development Must function well within a team oriented organizational environment Detail and results oriented Excellent written and oral communication and documentation skills Exceptional computer skills for word processing, database, presentation, statistical analysis, spreadsheets Ability to convey technical information to non-technical personnel Ability to mentor junior staff members Strong organizational skills Self-motivated and capable of working independently Familiar with GLP, GMP, and ISO 9001 quality systems Familiar with polymer processing techniques

 

Other Requirements: Only energetic, motivated and high achieving professionals will be considered Travel:  Less than 20% Must qualify under Zeus’ Corporate Fleet Safety Program.
