SENIOR BUYER/PLANNER

Technical Concepts, LLC is a rapidly growing global manufacturer of innovative hygiene products for the away-from-home marketplace and has recently been acquired by Newell Rubbermaid (Rubbermaid Commercial Products).  Located at our headquarters in Mundelein, IL, we have an immediate need for an experienced Sr. Buyer/Planner who will coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for the organization. The Sr. Buyer/Planner will also plan and prepare production schedules for the manufacture of industrial or commercial products.

 

Responsibilities may include the following:Conferring with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.Selecting products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.Estimating values according to knowledge of market price.Determining method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.Prepares purchase orders or bid requests including reviewing bid proposals and negotiating contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.Maintaining procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.Discussing defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.Drawing up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders including planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.Analyzing production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.Expediting operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.Preparing production reports.Preparing purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.Assisting with training and providing guidance to less senior purchasing staff members. 

 

Requirements:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) Minimum of five years related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environmentStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain business relationships - must be articulate and project a professional image Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet use is required. Experience with Baan and/or PLM a plusExcellent organization and time management skills, must be well organized and detailed with excellent internal/external customer service skills, ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists APICS certification requiredOccasional travel required with the possibility of international travel
