Safety & Training Coordinator
Job Summary:
Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employment, environmental health and safety, HRI system administration, training and employment equity programs.
Essential Functions:
§ Assist in new hire orientation by providing appropriate training regarding company environmental and safety policies, programs, processes and applicable training
§ Support plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment. Provide proper training, fitting and monitoring of PPE program to ensure all mandatory requirements are met
§ Provide technical safety and health support and information to production and all other personnel to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations
§ Develop annual company safety and health goals, programs, and objectives. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement in efficiency of department and services performed.
§ Participate in new product/process reviews including process hazard analyses
§ Participate in Kaizen events and new equipment purchases to ensure proper safety measures, PPE, and assessments are in place
§ Maintain corporate safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals)
§Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs
§ Maintain safety programs including: Hazard Communication, “Right to Know”, etc.
§ Responsible for maintenance and updating of facility MSDS
§ Establish and maintain facility Safety Committee. Establish First Responder Team. Record meeting minutes, safety inspections, and recommendations for improvements. Prepare plans and action.
§ Contingency plan development and implementation. Ensure that all parties involved are aware of their roles and assist in the training of plan to new associates. Conduct drills as necessary.
§ Monitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and Worker’s Compensation claims. Review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation for action time initiation. Establish Job Hazard Assessments as appropriate.
§ Identify potential ergonomic concerns and make recommendations to address.
§ Maintain first aid supplies, cabinets and other related materials.
§ Supports recycling efforts in conjunction with ISO 14001 requirements.
§ Assist in ISO 14001 internal audit processes.
§ All employees are responsible for having an awareness and understanding of Rotorion North America’s commitment to ISO 14001.
§Identify company, department and functional area training needs. Establish annual training matrix. Develop and coordinate training programs. Maintains training records for compliance and competency.
§ Works with 5S coordinator and team to support development, implementation and maintenance of program
§ Maintains HRI System with related employee training requirements and training credits.
§ Assist with other Human Resource duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
§ Coordinate Industrial Hygiene testing. Conduct exposure monitoring.
§ Maintain Rotorion North America security gate availabilities.
§ Issue associate security badges.
Education:
§ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent three to five years related experience in environmental, health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
Experience:
§ Proficient in Microsoft Office computer software applications.
Specific Skills:
§ Strong oral and written communication skills
§ Strong problem-solving skills
§ Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively deal with other people
§ Ability to deal with regulatory agencies and/or contractor personnel as required
Desired – Education/Skills/Experience:
§ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status
§ Certified ISO 14001 Internal Auditor
Physical Requirements:
§ Must be able to sit 25% - 50% of the time
§ Must be able to stand/move about 50% - 75% of the time
§ Must be able to bend, lift, and stoop frequently throughout the day (25% - 50% of the time)
§ Must be able to lift 15-25 lbs infrequently throughout the day
§ Must be able to operate a computer terminal at least 40%-60% of the time
§ Vision necessary to see and process work
§ Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors/managers, and customers
