Company Overview

Instrument Laboratory is a supplier of industrial components for electrical and process applications within the industrial manufacturing environments. Products include:Electric heaters Valves Timers Level controls Sensors Other process and electrical component products

The company also engineers and specifies for in-plant and project applications:Heaters Ovens Annunciators Control panels Automation systems

Instrument Laboratory also has the capability to re-engineer and modify most of our products so that we can supply a custom solution that is cost competitive to our customers.



Job Description:

·  This position represents Instrument Laboratory as an outside sales representative for our principal companies’ products customers in the assigned territory.

·  Sells control valves, control systems, instrumentation and associated products & services to existing and potential customers.

·  Responsible for achieving sales goals based on increased revenue/gross margin and developing ongoing relationships with accounts to identify opportunities to sell solutions.

·  Other responsibilities include account strategic planning, project pursuit & monthly key activities reporting.

·  Goals are developed by looking at the account’s historical sales in these areas, as well as past and upcoming projects.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for Outside Sales Representative/Account Manager:

·  Knowledge of:

o  Basic electrical controls theory

o  Understanding of industrial component applications

o  Automation and instrument systems

o  PLC or DCS applications

 

·  Ability to :

o  Develop goals and execute action plans to increase sales and gross margin

o  Call on existing and potential customers to develop and/or maintain a customer/supplier relationship

o  Determine customer needs, buying influences and cycles budgets, and purchasing criteria by engaging in active listening and investigative questioning techniques

o  Develop and present effective solutions comprised of Instrument Laboratory product & services deliverables in response to customer needs

o  Effectively coordinate with Instrument Laboratory, factory, and other representative resources to maximize sales return on investment

o  Document key activities for project and initiative sales pursuits using the sales management systems, SalesForce.com tool.

Other Requirements:

·  A Bachelor or Associate Degree in recognized related field with 3+ years sales experience

·  Ability to retain and effectively articulate customer information (names, product standards, account history, associated customer value, etc.) and technical product information (product applications, features and benefits, etc.)

·  Basic PC skills and ability to utilize various software applications (MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

·  Ability to access customer equipment which may involve stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs, riding man lifts, walking scaffolding, catwalks, etc.

·  Ability to comply with customer safety standards including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (respirators, goggles, hearing protection, etc.) when visiting customer facilities.

·  Ability to travel away from home via personal car and public transportation (usually airplane) on trips that last multiple days.

·  Valid drivers license and the ability to drive during the day or night for extended periods of time (up to five hours per day/seven days per week) in both metropolitan and rural environments during all seasons of the year.

Compensation:

 

The position is 100% commission with the first year with base + commission. Travel is compensated based on mileage and cell phone is provided.
