Senior Applications Engineer
Kinetics, a Climax Engineered Materials Company, is a world leading manufacturer of Metal Injection Molded (MIM) components for a wide range of markets including, aerospace, automotive, defense, electronics, medical, and sporting equipment.
The MIM technology combines the unique 3-dimensional shape capabilities of plastic injection molding with the ability to produce solid metal alloy parts. A range of materials are made possible with this technology including, stainless steels, alloy steels, titanium, copper, and refractory materials.
We currently have an opening for a Senior Applications Engineer
Summary:
Sr. Applications Engineering position is responsible for closing new business in defined markets with little or no over site and assistance from management by negotiating pricing and technical/manufacturing requirements with customers. This is accomplished by selling to all customer functions including, engineering and procurement to senior management in these functional areas. This position works in a cross functional department that is responsible for generating new business by communicating technical information internally and externally, evaluating potential product applications, assisting customers with design for manufacturability efforts, processing quotes, and teaming with field sales representatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Process requests for quotation (RFQ’s). Evaluate potential parts to determine if they are a good fit for MIM. Evaluation of any part requires review of part geometry, component function in its assembly, engineering print specifications, material requirements, and all tooling requirements to manufacture the part. Quoting includes costing of all process steps, and selecting final part pricing based on manufacturing costs, targeted margin levels, and annual volumes. Independently compose quotations with final pricing and lead times.
· Travel to visit customers with field sales representatives to: negotiate pricing and technical specifications, provide MIM technology training seminars, evaluate potential applications, assist customer design efforts, and support ongoing production supply relationships. Travel also includes participation in trade shows and industry events.
· Serve as internal lead technical-interface between the customer and Kinetics. Host all new product kick-off meetings. Support customer service on technical subjects and customer concerns. Provide Product Engineering support by ensuring Kinetics has all required engineering information for new program launches, resolve technical issues with new customer applications as they arise, and host all customer visits to Kinetics.
· Support marketing and market research efforts relative to customer/market areas of responsibility.
Experience and Qualifications:
BS Mechanical Engineering with experience in design and/or manufacturing who desires to take on responsibilities for business development in key markets.
Ten (10) years engineering experience in area or areas relevant to assignment.
High degree of mechanical aptitude is a must.
Requires the ability to understand engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GDT).Demonstrated value/productivity engineering experience and design creativity are critical.Must have ability to communicate both technical and commercial details to a wide range of target audiences including managers, designers, engineers and buyers.
· Thorough knowledge of Pro-Engineer Wildfire
· 10-15 years engineering experience in area or areas relevant to assignment.
