Senior Fixed Assets Accountant

Summary: Prepares fixed asset related listings, register-to-ledger reconciliation, depreciation analysis, and other fixed asset related book and tax cost reports for Management. Responsibilities include Oracle system set-up and maintenance, data input, internal controls, and performing research to record asset transactions and forecast depreciation. Relies on judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Offers suggestions to Management about resource utilization, tax strategy, or assumptions underlying spending projections, disposals, and/or depreciation.General Responsibilities: - Set-up and maintain asset system; security, financials, and depreciation rules
- Create, rename, reclassify, adjust, revalue, transfer, count, retire, or reinstate assets
- Run, rollback, or add unplanned depreciation expense & review for reasonableness
- Calculate gains/losses on retirements
- Reconcile Fixed Assets and prepare reporting of CIP and assets held for sale
- Maintain tax book
- Maintenance of CapEx reporting & analysis, currently utilizing MS-Access database
- CAR Process Administration for CARs >$250,000
- Assist with quarterly planning and forecasting (e.g. running depreciation projections)
- Assist with quarterly and annual audit and tax packages

- Familiar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures (GAAP, IRS)
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and communications skills
- Follows and can also develop written instructions, procedures and guidelines (SOX-404, WAAP, etc)
- Ability to drive process improvement and be a change agent
- Strong analytical skills
- Technology/Software - accounting packages, MS-Access and MS-Excel
- Oracle fixed assets and general ledger required; knowledge of purchasing and payables helpful
- Works under general supervision
- Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 5-7 Years of accounting/finance work experience
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred
