Senior Industrial Relations Staff Representative (HR)

The key area of focus for this position will include interfacing with union leadership through grievances, arbitration, and negotiations and serve as a business partner to advise, coach and teach sound people engagement that will positively impact the business and improve employee relations.The purpose of this position is to manage activities designed to establish and maintain effective labor relations through the uniform and equitable application of collective bargaining agreements, company policies and practices.Reporting to the HR Manager, you will:* Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to address day-to-day issues pertaining to labor relations and related matters.* Manage the grievance process by coordinating, investigating, and responding to grievances. * Prepare and/or assist with the preparation of contract agreements (e.g. Letters of Agreement, Memos of Understanding).* Develop and maintain a tracking system for labor-relation matters, grievances, MOUs, LOAs, corrective actions, arbitrator rulings, etc.*Interpret contract language (consistent with its negotiated intent), and provide guidance to ensure that provisions are effectively administered. *Develop, foster, and maintain communications with union leadership and committee representatives on a continuing basis. *Provide general direction to Human Resource team regarding employee relations matters as needed.

 

Basic Qualifications:

• BS in Industrial Relations or Human Resource Management.• 7-9 years experience in human resources and industrial relations.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must have superior business writing and proofreading skills.• Demonstrated strong leadership skills including persuasion/negotiating skills and the ability to problem solve.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.• Supervisory experience.• Leadership training.
