We are currently looking for a Senior Manager – Manufacturing Performance to be based out of our North American headquarters in Herndon, Virginia to drive the Gypsum Business Unit’s Manufacturing, Environment, and Health & Safety objectives by providing leadership, guidance, and support in the advancement of a performance and safety culture in Lafarge throughout North America.
Senior Manager – Manufacturing Performance
(EHS - Environment, Health & Safety/Manufacturing)
The Manufacturing Performance Manager will analyze performance values and provide a strategic review of the Division’s strengths and opportunities on the manufacturing and EHS front. Further, the Manager will create, track, and monitor performance objectives and partner with Management to create and implement continuous improvement, efficiency, productivity and safety initiatives. The incumbent will devote approximately 50% of his/her time to the implementation of the Business Unit’s safety action plan, 25% to Environmental performance, and the remaining 25% to support other manufacturing performance issues.
EHS Responsibilities include; supporting the Division by providing the research, data and business analytical support needed to assess manufacturing and EHS performance, opportunities and practices; Champions division and Business Unit EHS road map and consistently monitors the progress against objectives; tracks and utilizes established key performance metrics, which define the impact of the BU safety action plan; participates in investigations of incidents and other significant events, ensuring lessons learnt are shared with the Business Unit community; Coordinate and facilitate the EHS audit processes to ensure performance management (and to include methodology, training, reports and follow-up); evaluate/improve Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) tools and assisting the appropriate personnel in their utilization; serving as the link with other North American Business Line and Division EHS communities, capturing and advocating internal and external best practices and lessons learned, then leading the implementation of these practices; ensuring the safety and environment training, communications and program support documents are utilized, properly translated and understood at sites; and, facilitate preparation of Business Unit and local EHS performance plans and reports, as well as the required follow-up.
Manufacturing Responsibilities include; championing Plant performance and KPI action plan preparation, ensuring consistent reporting and communicating progress to the Business Unit and Division Industrial leadership; developing Reliability tracking tools for Plants, ensuring consistent application and follow up; championing Manufacturing BI efforts to develop uniform reporting tools for all Plants; capturing and sharing internal and external Manufacturing best practices, facilitating implementation in Plants and assess effectiveness of implementation by capturing results; evaluate all Manufacturing reporting tools, recommending improvements/developments accordingly; coordinate Maintenance and Production Manager meetings, information preparations, action planning and follow-up; supporting the Process Manager in developing key process data capturing and analytical tools, setting of priorities; and, coordinating Sustaining Capital reporting and cash flow forecasting.
To be considered for this role, qualified candidates must have a University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial), coupled with an MBA from a Tier-1 or top Tier-2 school. 7-10 years of relevant or industrial work experience is required with previous experience in a management / leadership role and familiarity with a performance-driven culture. Overseas and/or multiple location experiences is also an asset. Effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, coupled with a high level of demonstrated financial/business analysis skills are critical to the success of this role. Strong Project Management skills and a demonstrated ability to use research and analytical tools and methodologies are also important to the position. Bilingualism in French is a desireable asset, however is not required.
