We are an equal opportunity employer. POSITION ACTIVITIES AND DUTIES1. Provide mechanical engineering leadership to support Cummins 10 - 2500 kW gensets currently in production using engineering and problem solving skills. 2. Provide cross functional leadership to solve complex field and warranty problems. Participate in and lead cross functional design reviews.3. Assure all engineering technical data and design changes are complete and accurately documented, establish and maintain technical files.4. Interface with internal (manufacturing, purchasing, etc.) and external suppliers and customers to develop high quality designs.5. Lead changes to existing products to support warranty reduction, code compliance, supplier changes, emissions compliance, etc.6. Resolve design related manufacturing issues (stop ships, deviations, etc).7. Answer engineering related application questions to support sales applications, CAG and other functional areas within the organization.8. Provide work direction and support to engineering technicians to complete engineering validations, perform tests and analyze data.9. Provide work direction and conceptual input to designers in supporting CPG products. POSITION REQUIREMENTS1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of three experience designing generator sets or related systems. Or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and no minimum experience.2. Experience in generator set mechanical design is desired, specifically experience with engine subsystems: cooling, intake, exhaust and fuel systems, engine performance, control, wiring, enclosure/housings, alternator, etc. 3. Proficient at analyzing problems and statistics by applying technical skills and the appropriate scientific method. 4. Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.5. Excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills.6. Ability to work well in a team environment inclusive of internal and external partners, and to plan and execute projects jointly with designers and technicians.7. Ability to pace / prioritize work to meet deadlines.8. Familiarity with common quality tools and methodologies such as: 7-step problem solving, Design for Six Sigma, FMEA, DOE, and DFMA.9. Strong process focus is required.10. The ability to understand and work with the CPG organization, decision process and product flow.11. Ability to gain commitment from other functional areas of the company for projects.
