Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will design and develop products used in Fluid Handling systems. Position involves project responsibility from concept through project completion.

 

Responsibilities:

· Participate as a member or leader of a in new product development design team

· Participation in development of Product Specification

· Complete project feasibility and Pre-Prod authorizations

· Create and maintain project schedules and manage project to meet schedules.

· Produce conceptual designs

· Creation of detailed design drawings

· Definition of applicable standards

· Analysis of design to applicable standards

·Analysis of design using engineering analysis tools and techniques (Finite Element Analysis)

· Review of instruction manual and product literature

· Define and lead prototype development and lab and field tests

· Work effectively in a team environment

· Work with manufacturing on process development

· Participate in release for sale activities

· Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status

· Conduct design reviews, safety reviews

· Administer personnel reviews, salary plans and employee development plans for direct reports

· Supervise and give work direction to direct reports which may include technicians, designers, and engineers

· Provide on-going employee training and development
As required, participate in recruitment and selection of personnel

·   Determine customer requirements, and evaluate Graco & Competitive products per those requirements.

· Analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products

· Troubleshooting product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites

· Small projects ("Minors") such as cost reductions, packages, product upgrades

· Initiate corrective action activities

· Stay abreast of developments in technical field to maintain technical knowledge

· Learn, participate in development, and apply knowledge of:
Graco product line, Operational systems, Graco and industry design standards, Graco Quality Management System and Graco customer applications and requirements



Qualifications:

· BS degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent

· Good oral and written communication skills

· Good mechanical/electrical aptitude

· 3-5 years experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to produce innovative and successful products

· Ability to plan and lead product development projects

· Ability to select, supervise, and develop personnel

· Professional engineering registration (EIT/PE)

· Experience with computer applications

· Experience with Simultaneous Engineering product development process

· Experience with fluid handling equipment design and development
