Shift Manager Process Control

WCI Steel, Inc. is an integrated flat-rolled steel producer located in Warren, Ohio. Applicants are being sought for a Shift Manager Process Control in our Metallurgical Department.

 

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:    Hands on experience with steel inspection, quality control and material disposition.

 

DUTIES:     Responsible for establishing and maintaining Inspection Standards for all Hot Roll, Cold Roll, and Hot Dipped Galvanized products with respect to processing, surface, shape, and gauge and for directing and training unit inspectors, and other appropriate personnel in all aspects of Inspection, Quality Control, and testing as directed by the Area Supervisor of Process Control. Direct interaction is maintained with operating supervisor and SOT.

 

  Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Corporate Quality System and Process Control of all products.

 

Disposition material where processing, surface, shape, and gauge are found to be in question for all products.

 

Direct and assist in gathering and reporting information pertaining to new product development.

 

Identify defects, direct, and assist in tracking down the sources of defects to eliminate or minimize customer complaints.

 

Assist in training of hourly personnel on various quality requirements. Directs hourly quality coordinators as needed.

 

  Administer district safety policies and activities.

 

  Supervises employees in the Metallurgical Labs.

 

  Shift work required.
