JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Production Team Leader is accountable for reporting and leading all manufacturing activities in a safe and lean manner while assuring quality products and services at the lowest practical costs.  This person will facilitate the development of employees, including change management and organizational development initiatives in two production facilities.  The team leader schedules day to day operations as well as long term schedules and provides the logistics department with required information to maintain inventory levels and inventory turns. The production team leader is responsible to ensure that proper material, tools and resources are available. Team coordination and problem solving skills are essential.

 

It is the jobholder's duty to develop, document, implement and improve operation systems and standards, including the fulfillment of the TS 16949 requirements.  In addition, he or she will be involved in planning/supporting of new projects.

 

Other project style tasks, including but not limited to: assignment of sponsorship to EHS programs, identifying & supporting CI initiatives, implementing changes to current procedures, other tasks might be assigned to the Production Team Leader in addition to the day to day activities.

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  Shift production reporting into plant metrics. Set up of shift personnel to cover needed positions. Assistance with hiring/discipline of production personnel. Actively participate with production team in obtaining plant objectives. Cross functional communication with quality, engineering and logistics. Creates and monitors shift/time schedules for employees. Training and Development of Production Team. Creation, modification, and auditing of daily operator check sheets, and operator instructions.     Report and document any EHS related issues.                    

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be dependable self-starter. Must have the ability to supervise, direct and motivate the production team. Proven leadership skills in training, safety, motivation, discipline, productivity improvement and quality/accuracy. Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a production environment as supervisor, with a Tier 1 Automotive Supplier, Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and operations. Excellent people skills are necessary for this position / team work oriented. College degree preferred; excellent written and spoken English language skills Strive to improve plant performance Computer knowledge / experience including MS office Available to work any shift.
