Nature and Scope: 

 

Responsible for supporting Essilor USA for selected product and service categories/commodities by developing strategic supply chain and sourcing strategies, establish bid events or sourcing initiatives, and entering into negotiations with suppliers, reviewing terms and conditions, contracts and any conditions affecting Essilor’s best interest.  (e.g., capital and capital equipment, service contracts and warranties).  May supervise procurement buyers that will purchase materials, services and capital equipment within Essilor’s corporate polices and procedures at the best possible terms for price, quality and delivery.

 

Principal Accountabilities: 

 Interface with all Shared Services business units or Essilor Lab Operations.Drive annual productivity improvements. Develop, champion and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize the Company’s expenditures in this areaDevelop and relationships with senior Essilor management and Executive team.Locate and source for the procurement of specified capital/material/equipment and services based on established total value of the items and within the defined timeline in which the purchase(s) or requirement(s) must be completed.Manage the vendor selection and negotiation process; establish and maintain contractual and business relationships with vendors; monitor contract compliance and adjust sourcing strategies based on changing business needs.Review and finalize contracts that include terms and conditions, legal aspects, OSHA standards, performance specifications, service and warranty contracts.Acting as purchasing program manager, establish contracts that include a mutually agreed-to timeline for completion of the project by the supplier with intermediate goals reported for each family category that he/she is responsible for.Advise and/or instruct designated buyers on matters relating to Essilor’s purchasing policies and procedures and the proper processing of purchasing functions.Track and evaluate market trends and availability for designated procurement commodities.Measure and track performance within each spend category and define budgetary impact;Manage designated supplier base, consolidating and replacing suppliers as required.Exceed or meet annual savings and value goals established.

 

Key Measurements:Negotiate materials, corporate services, and contracts with domestic and off-shore suppliers.Develop, establish, implement, and track TOTAL COST (hard and soft) reductions strategies and initiatives.Interface with all levels of Essilor management to insure the sourcing and purchasing function is fully supportive of all major programs.Develop strong relationships with senior management of Essilor’s suppliers.Monitor progress of supplier programs and interface with Essilor’s management on specific matters concerning contract terms.Determine appropriate action to be taken when terms of the contract are in dispute.Conduct ongoing negotiations to ensure the best interests of Essilor are protected during the life of the contract.

 

Experience/Education background required:

·  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, CPM certification is desired.

·  6 to 10 years purchasing experience (2 years may be substituted for an MBA)

·  Familiarity with Strategic Sourcing Processes (i.e. 8-Step Strategic Sourcing Process)

·  Understanding of contract and business law basics

·  Documented and demonstrated experience negotiating long term agreements

·  Computer literate in Microsoft Office

·  Strong MS Excel Skills Required (MS Access preferred but not required)

·  Strong Program Analytics and Financial Analysis Skills required

·  Supplier cost reduction program experience

·  Supplier certification involvement

·  Excellent written and communication skills
