Sr. Cost Accountant

Our client is a fast growing manufacturing company.  Currently, they are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant.  This person will be responsible for appropriate valuation of cost of sales and inventory in compliance with GAAP, and will develop procedures to facilitate accuracy and timeliness in these valuations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ·  Lead and conduct internal SOX audits·  Implement, maintain and update the standard cost system·  Monitor PO pricing versus standard costs and make changes when appropriate·  Establish appropriate labor and overhead rates by analyzing reported resource group activity and actual departmental expenses·  Assist with the month-end closing process by reconciling all inventory accounts, analyzing production variances and other costs of sales, and by creating journal entries and accruals when necessary, in a timely and accurate manner·  Establish and maintain appropriate inventory reserve levels for obsolete, slow moving, and demo inventory·  Monitor Work in Process report and alert production managers if jobs are eligible to be closed·  Monitor inventory levels and alert warehouse managers if irregular or negative quantities appear·  Perform price testing on top selling models throughout the year·  Work with auditors to validate stated inventory valuations and costs of sales through various types of analysis·  Work with Engineering to establish appropriate bills of material, as well as cost estimates for new products·  Lead the year-end physical inventory process, or if appropriate, the cycle count observation by the auditors·  Develop procedures as necessary to improve accuracy and timliness Requirements :·  Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Business and/or up to 6 years relevant work experience·  5+ years experience as a cost accountant within a manufacturing environment·  Strong knowledge of GAAP·  Minimum 1 year experience implementing SOX controls·  Experience in high volume, fast paced, multiple product line/parts environment·  Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).With this growing company you will be on the road to exciting professional challenges and opportunities.
